ANTIGO, Wis. - Raymond Jack “Ray” Szmanda, known by many Midwesterners as “the Menards guy,” has died, according to his family. He was 91. Charles Szmanda, son of Ray, confirmed his father’s death in a Facebook post Sunday, May 6. Szmanda was the Menards spokesperson for over two decades, and was the star of countless television and radio commercials.
THABAZIMBI, South Africa - The owner of a South African wildlife park is lucky to be alive after he was dragged and mauled by a lion after entering the animal's enclosure. Mike Hodge, 67, was rushed to a local hospital with neck and jaw injuries as a result of the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, May 1, according to the Daily Mail.

A man, struggling with the decision to take his own life, was on the verge of jumping off a Detroit freeway overpass, a move that would likely end his life. Then, state troopers and local law enforcement decided to make an out-of-the-ordinary call for backup: 13 (heroic) truckers. One by one, the truckers, with the help of police, pulled up next to each other, side-by-side, forming a wall underneath the overpass in an effort to prevent the man from jumping off the overpass.

A southeastern Michigan high school golfer learned his lesson the hard way Sunday, April 22, after a Canada goose randomly attacked him as he was walking down the fairway of a golf course. According to a tweet from the Blissfield Athletics account, the group of golfers had just finished teeing off and were walking down the fairway and there was a goose nest to their left.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 36-year-old Nashville, Tenn. man, who was known to dress up as Spiderman and wash the windows at a local children's hospital, has been sentenced to 105 years in prison for various child pornography crimes. Jarratt A. Turner was sentenced Monday, April 16 in U.S. District Court on multiple instances of production of child pornography and transportaion of child pornography. According to court records:

Madden Humphreys, of Owasso, Okla., was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. He also has a rare condition known as heterochromia iridum, which means his eyes are two different colors. For Madden, looking different than his peers, unfortunately, has resulted in several bullying-related incidents at school.
PONCE INLET, Fla. - A pair of Florida fisherman got the surprise of a lifetime Saturday, March 24, when a massive great white shark decided to circle their fishing boat. The two fisherman, Kyle Morningstar and Ian Smith, of Port Orange, Fla., happened to capture the shark circling the boat on video with their cell phones.
