A heavy turnout was reported yesterday as striking steelworkers at Silver Bay and Babbitt voted on a Reserve Mining Co. offer to settle their 128-day-old strike. Ballots were brought to Duluth for tabulation, but results were not yet known late yesterday.
A recommendation to raise a few of the barrels containing military scrap material from Lake Superior has been made by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The 1,437 barrels from Honeywell Inc. were dumped into the lake between 1959 and 1962.

The 8th District U.S. Court of Appeals yesterday agreed with 15 women who sued Eveleth Mines for sexual harassment and discrimination that a lower court's financial award they received last year wasn't enough. The women had been awarded amounts ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
The start of the next John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon will be in Canal Park, it was announced yesterday. The course will run alongside the Lakewalk and on the North Shore Scenic Railroad right-of-way and then connect with the regular course at Ordean School.
