An armed robber took an undetermined amount of cash from the Miller Hill Mall branch of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association last evening. Duluth police said the masked thief pointed a snub-nosed revolver at a bank employee and demanded money.
Construction is expected to begin in December on a 27,000-square-foot building in the Duluth Airpark to be rented to the Glass Block for warehousing and sale of garden supplies. Plans call for occupancy of the building by next July 1.

Most state legislators from Duluth and the Iron Range voted for the plan for state-backed construction of a Twins ballpark which failed this week in the Minnesota House. They stressed that the plan didn't include public funding for the stadium.
The Mesabi Family YMCA, which opened in 1991, is facing a $130,000 debt still lingering from original building costs. To get the facility back into shape, officials of the YMCA are starting a capital campaign aimed at raising $500,000 over the next five months.
