Victim identified in fatal deer stand shooting
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the 16-year-old Aurora youth who died from a gunshot wound while in a deer stand Saturday.
Corwin M. Johnson, 16, was found dead by a relative just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a deer stand near Stepetz Road in White Township, about 5 miles southwest of Aurora.
Sgt. Steve Borchers said the gunshot appeared self-inflicted, that foul play is not suspected and that no other party is believed to be involved.
Johnson was dropped off at his deer stand early Saturday morning by his uncle and hadn't been seen until he was found deceased.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and asks that anyone who may have spoken with Johnson by telephone or texted him during the day Saturday contact (218) 749-7134.
