Susan Bernadette King of Mendon, Mass., and Eric William Stromgren, of Duluth, Minn., were married Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Boulder, Colo. The bride is the daughter of Michael King and the late Valerie King of Mendon, Mass. The groom is the son of David Stromgren of Duluth, and Patricia Stromgren of International Falls, Minn.
Grandparents of the bride are Lorraine King and the late Henry King of Medway, Mass., and the late William and Bernadette Schmidt of New York City. Grandparents of the groom are Lois Stromgren and the late Roy Stromgren of Duluth, and the late Cleve and Doris Costley of International Falls.
Family and close friends from eight different states celebrated the wedding, officiated by Pastor Steven Warren, of Boulder, Colo., inside the A-frame church on a sunny and blustery day.
Brother of the groom, Matt Stromgren, of Duluth, was best man. Jackie Eastridge, of Mendon, was maid of honor. The groom's cousins, Zak Tollefson of Lake City, Fla., and Max Tollefson, of Houghton, Mich., served as greeters.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an ivory dress with lace detail, and carried a bouquet of sunflowers and lavender wrapped in lace.
The reception was held near the continental divide at the historic Stage Stop in the mountain town of Rollinsville, Colo. London broil, chicken and walleye were among the foods served with Colorado beers and wines. Vanilla and chocolate cream cake was served for dessert. The Weston Smith duo entertained with classic country music.
The couple honeymooned in the National Parks of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. They also hiked in the red rocks of Sedona, Ariz.
The bride graduated from Nipmuc Regional High School in 2003 and from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She works at the University of Colorado Boulder.
The groom graduated Duluth Denfeld High School in 1999 and from St. Cloud State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in mass communications. He is pursuing a career in information technology after a decade working in newspapers.
The couple met in Nashville, Tenn., in 2013 and fell in love while living in Music City. They moved to Lafayette, Colo., in 2015 and the groom proposed on Nov. 25, 2016, under an orange sunset overlooking the Green River in Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah. The couple continues to reside near Boulder and enjoy all of their happy pursuits in the Rocky Mountains.
